The Dealer Program, which focused on taking control of your inventory, spanned two days this year. What about logs that are too heavy to lift? Does it split vertically? I’d really like to see it split some 24-inch long maple, osage orange, or forked logs. BTW, I kind of resent that ad-based CAPTCHA.

Regardless of size, composting is easy as long as the nitrogen to carbon ratio is roughly 1 part nitrogen (green grass clippings, food waste, and other wet material) to 30 parts carbon (dry leaves, shredded paper, cardboard, wood materials).

However, using 1 gallon of gasoline produces about the same amount of carbon dioxide, so if a family drives 10 miles each way to get their real tree, they likely have already offset the carbon sequestered by the tree. Buying a tree closer to home or at a tree lot along your daily commute can reduce or eliminate this impact.
